NOTICE OF PRIVACY PRACTICES

Privacy Principles:

I believe the privacy of clients’ personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) is important. My business practices demonstrate the belief that less is more: collecting and using less of your personal information allows me to focus more on providing the best design services possible. Put simply, if a client’s Personal Information is not required to finalize or manage a project, I will not ask for it, use it, store it or share it. Please see below for details.

Definitions:

Personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) is generally information or data that can be used to uniquely identify a specific individual. Some examples include name, personal mailing address, phone number, and credit card information.

I may ask you to provide Personal Information (i.e., phone number/physical address/email/password for personal/business accounts) so that I can contact clients, send a client information, submit invoices for services and implement components of a project agreement.

Types of Personal Information Collected and How That Information is Collected:

I will collect only as much Personal Information from a client, as needed to provide design services, and nothing more. This information may be collected by email, phone and in-person. This may include some or all of the following Personal Information:

Contact information, such as name, phone number(s), addresses (business and/or personal)
Email addresses and passwords for email accounts.
User names and passwords for online client accounts, where access is required to manage a project agreement.

Kate Miller Design does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13, without parental consent.

Use of Personal Information:

Personal Information is used to complete or provide ongoing management of a project agreement. Specifically, this may include using it to set up, process or maintain the design, creation and delivery of your project. Credit card information may be used to process payment for a project, but only with consent and as described above.

Additionally, Personal Information may be used to provide project updates, notify clients of new or changing services offered by Kate Miller Design or to seek feedback for the quality of work received. Any additional email newsletters or information are sent via MailChimp and their privacy policy applies. I encourage you to read that policy and unsubscribe at any time.

Transfer of Personal Information:

Personal Information will only be shared with third parties who are required to assist with services performed as part of a project agreement. Personal Information will not be shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.

I will share Personal Information if required to do so by law, legal process, litigation and/or requests from public or government authorities. I may also disclose Personal Information if I believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to assist with law enforcement, national security or other issues of public importance.

If it becomes necessary to enforce a project agreement and/or collect unpaid fees, I may disclose Personal Information for those purposes. If I sell or transfer the business, Kate Miller Design, I may also transfer the Personal Information that has been collected, to the appropriate third party.

Access to Personal Information:

Personal Information collected by Kate Miller Design can be changed, updated or deleted by submitting a direct request by email to: kate@katemiller.design.

Retention of Personal Information:

I do not knowingly retain your Personal Information longer than necessary to meet the purposes described in this Privacy Notice. Personal Information collected to maintain a client account (i.e., your contact information and project data) would be kept as record, unless there is a request to have information deleted. In that case, please submit your request by email to: kate@katemiller.design.

Protection of Personal Information:

Personal Information is protected to the best of my ability, against loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction using physical, technical and administrative processes.

These measures include:

Storing client usernames/passwords digitally within client files, which are protected under password protected access
Backing up computer files to a local computer drive, as well as online using a secure account.
Hard copy Personal Information is stored in client folders located in the home office of Kate Miller Design. The office is secured (or “locked”) when I am not present.

Where I link to or use third party products or services, those organizations’ privacy policies apply and I encourage you to review those privacy policies before providing your personal information. I am happy to provide any information upon request.

Changes to this Notice:

I may periodically update this Privacy Notice, and will post the up-to-date information, at this location, on this website (www.katemillerdesign.com).
